The team: management, project management, organisation, installation.

As a fitter, lead fitter and later project manager, he spent over 20 years on construction sites across Switzerland.

He learned early on that every project has a sense of humour of its own: plans are more like suggestions, material has a remarkable talent for being missing exactly where it is needed, and on every construction site there is at least one person who is very sure that something "will never work like that". Usually without an alternative, but with a great deal of conviction.

He knows the industry not from meetings or presentations, but from more than two decades of hands-on practice. From situations where people do not discuss but get on with it, because the crane does not wait, the concrete waits even less, and the weather forecast does what it likes anyway.

And that is exactly why he usually knows where the problem lies while others are still wondering whether there is one at all. This mix of down-to-earth thinking and entrepreneurial instinct shapes Mariacher Schweiz AG to this day.

And of a bit of extra work.

Usually one does not come without the other. After his commercial apprenticeship, Nico quickly learned with the Swiss Air Force that "just a short wait" is a fixed part of every schedule, and that a plan is only really good once it has been changed completely at least once.

A brief detour into the cosmetics industry then taught him that you can package things nicely, but they still have to work. After that it was clear: the modular and container industry is more honest. If something does not fit, you see it immediately. No filter. No discussion.

He spent more than ten years there in every role an industry has to offer, from sales through to executive management. Along the way he developed a fairly reliable system: when someone says "that is quickly done", it usually takes longer. And when someone says "that will do", it gets measured again.

Mariacher Schweiz AG had long been more than just a business partner. Cooperation turned into trust, and at some point into the quiet realisation that together you find solutions faster than apart with good arguments. In 2024 he moved across as project manager and deputy managing director; since 2026 he has been running the company operationally.

He thinks entrepreneurially, acts pragmatically and has a talent for turning complex discussions back into a working result. Because in the end, on the construction site as in the office: what counts is not what you meant, but what is standing at the end.

She knows what is where, who needs what – and why it is once again not where it should be.

Evelyn is not only part of the management, she is also part of the family behind Mariacher. She has been actively shaping the company since 2009 – and not from an office chair. She started where you learn fastest at Mariacher how the place really works: out on the construction site.

For more than ten years she was out there with safety boots, tools and the daily realization that a plan on paper is above all one thing: a good start.

In that time she has seen pretty much everything a construction site has to offer. Missing material, surprising deliveries, even more surprising schedules and of course the classic: "We'll just do that quickly as well." So she knows from her own experience: when somebody on site says "quickly", it is wiser not to plan anything else for the rest of the day. And when it's "five minutes", there is usually still time for a coffee.

At some point Evelyn moved from the construction site into the office. Officially, at least. Because anyone who thinks there is less to organize there has probably never tried to move fitters, suppliers, clients, deadlines and material in the same direction at the same time. The main difference: in the office you don't wear safety boots while doing it.

And because that apparently wasn't enough, she also looks after the entire depot "on the side". Over 5’000 square meters with tools, machines, material, goods receipt, goods issue and everything that somebody once put down somewhere with the words: "We'll definitely need that again."

Where exactly that "somewhere" is, Evelyn usually knows.

That makes her one of the few people at Mariacher who not only know what we own, but also, with a remarkably high hit rate, where it is. And when a tool should be there according to the list, isn't there according to the depot and "was definitely brought back" according to the fitter, one of those investigations begins that usually ends with the tool being found – and surprisingly often with the last user's memory returning as well.

Today Evelyn is the one things end up with when nobody quite knew who they were supposed to end up with in the first place. And remarkably, they usually come back solved. Sometimes even things Evelyn herself knew nothing about five minutes earlier.

She has one decisive advantage: she knows both sides. She knows what was planned in the office – and from more than ten years of her own site experience she knows what of that actually works outside. That shortens quite a few discussions considerably. Especially the ones that start with "in theory that should work".

When material is missing, Evelyn usually knows where to look. When two people tell different versions of the same story, she works out which third version is probably true. And when somebody claims they "definitely sent an email", she doesn't start a discussion, she starts the search. Experience says: at the sender's end first.

After so many years at Mariacher, Evelyn knows not only the processes but also their natural enemies: time pressure, last-minute changes, vanished tools and sentences that begin with "actually, that should…". Closely followed by "I thought somebody else was doing that" and the particular favorite "Evelyn is sure to know where it is".

Usually she really does.

And when everyone finally knows what they have to do, the material is where it belongs, the missing tool has turned up again and nobody can quite say how all of that worked out, then Evelyn was probably on it long ago.

She calls it organisation.

By now we simply call it: ask Evelyn.

That is cheaper than repairing it later.

Magdalena has been with the company for more than 15 years, which makes her not just a fixture but something more like the good fairy of the house. Or, as many would say: the mom of the crew. Just with more Excel and fewer lullabies.

She always has an open ear, whether it is about construction sites, office chaos or the occasional major life drama. And remarkably, she often knows from the first sentence whether this is heading toward a headache, heartache or simply "not enough coffee".

Officially she takes care of administration and organisation. Unofficially also of everything in between: plants, mood, missing information and the occasional saving of the day. Incidentally, the plants last longer than many plans made in meetings, which tells you everything about the quality of her care.

Her phone ringtone has long been legendary. Not because it is particularly quiet. But because at the latest by then everyone in the office knows: either something important is happening, or somebody has called again because they can't find something.

And when things get really serious, Magdalena has another advantage: a direct line to our accountant. What is a process in other companies is, with her, more of a short call and an "I'll sort that out quickly".

In short: Magdalena holds the place together. With calm, humor, an open ear and the rare ability to be mom, good fairy and operating system of the company all at once.

Absolutely nothing.

A phone call from three months ago, a plan change from meeting number seven or a detail nobody else would have noticed? Dominik still remembers it, has documented it – and usually already has a solution to go with it.

As a Dipl. Architekt ETH SIA, he accompanies our projects from the first greenfield idea through design, architecture and the building permit application to execution and project management. His ETH degree, international architecture, demanding large-scale projects and even hands-on experience in boatbuilding have shaped him: what is meant to look good also has to work – and what is meant to work has to be thought through down to the last detail.

With him, a functional modular facility gets the same planning precision and care as a prestigious villa with the highest architectural ambitions. First-class and second-class projects do not exist in his world.

At least as impressive as his expertise is his calm. When things get hectic and three people want something at once, Dominik does not get louder – if anything, quieter. He listens, thinks and finds a solution. And when it has to be, the architect puts the plan aside and lends a hand on the construction site himself. Perhaps that is a little of the boatbuilder coming through again.

Languages do not throw him off balance either: German, English, French or Swedish – Dominik finds the right words. And for everyone. Whether assistant fitter, tradesman or highly respected client: titles and status mean nothing to him. Everyone gets the same respect and the same attention.

For us, Dominik is far more than an architect. He is a firm part of our team, an exceptional professional, a perfectionist and above all a genuinely kind-hearted person we can rely on one hundred per cent. We value him enormously and are proud and grateful to have him at our side at Mariacher.

And should we ever forget why: Dominik is bound to have documented it somewhere.

With more than 30 years of experience in construction and planning law, Urs knows not only the planning side of a project, but above all the complex interplay of laws, regulations, codes, fire protection, building permit procedures and authorities.

As a Dipl. Architekt HTL and long-standing head of building departments, he knows both sides: that of the planners and clients just as well as that of the authorities. He knows what matters in permits and clarifications, where the potential stumbling blocks lie – and how to find a workable path even through a fairly dense jungle of laws and regulations.

Urs has been accompanying and supporting us for several years now. We particularly value his calm and considered manner. He listens, works his way into every question with great interest and is always motivated to contribute his knowledge and find a good solution together.

A calm head, a wealth of experience and exactly the right man when paragraphs, regulations and official channels are supposed to end up as a solution.

When Mario turns up on the construction site in the morning, problems get into a bad mood as a precaution. They know: today it is getting serious, and usually sorted quickly too.

From fitter to lead fitter to project manager, he worked his way up step by step. Not with big words, but with results that simply stand.

On the road across Switzerland, he turns up where others are still explaining why something is difficult. By then Mario has usually already started making it easier.

His classic line: "I'll just take a quick look." Which in reality almost always means: he doesn't just look, he solves it on the spot. While others are still discussing, he is often already on his way to the solution. And when someone says "can't be done", for him that is more of a start than an end.

Or as they say on site: when Mario says "it's running", it runs. And if it isn't, Mario is already running anyway.

Some people collect professional experience, Johann has simply lived it. For almost 60 years he has been on construction sites all over Switzerland. And honestly: in all that time he has clearly never seriously considered stopping.

Officially he is the longest-serving employee. Unofficially he still manages to make young colleagues go quiet for a moment when he shows up. Not out of fear, more out of respect, mixed with the quiet feeling that this man probably knew how things work before you even knew which way was up.

He has seen it all: plans open to creative interpretation, material with a remarkable urge to travel and weather that never sticks to an agreement. For Johann none of it is a drama, more everyday life with a familiar ring to it.

His dialect has long been his trademark. Sometimes it takes a moment before you understand everything, but in the end you always understand exactly the right thing. And that suits him: direct, honest, no detours.

And although he occasionally makes the younger colleagues nervous, everyone secretly likes him. Because he not only knows how it is done, he also explains it in a way that actually works in the end. Usually with a short sentence, a dry remark and exactly the right kind of banter.

In short: Johann is the construction site in person. With experience, character and a way of getting to the point that you cannot learn, only acquire over decades.

Jozef – to us really just Juki – has been part of the core Mariacher crew for many years. Lead fitter, installation manager, tradesman through and through and one of those people who sometimes give you the feeling that knocking-off time is more of a non-binding suggestion.

Juki is a genuine workhorse. When there is work to be done, it gets done. And when there is a lot of work to be done, a bit more gets done on top. Half-hearted does not exist with Juki. Whatever he does, he does with full conviction and full commitment.

And he is not only fast, he is also seriously good. Container and modular construction, installation, fit-out or technical details – Juki knows his trade and works precisely. Where Andrej measures again, Juki has probably measured again too. Only faster.

That may be no coincidence. Juki and Andrej have been best friends since childhood and today both stand on the construction site for Mariacher as lead fitters and installation managers. Whether they were already putting things together as children, we do not know. But we suspect: Andrej checked, and Juki was already on the next project.

Away from the construction site, "slow and careful" was apparently never quite Juki's motto in life either. Motocross was one of his great passions for a long time – with the corresponding wear and tear. Rumour has it that Juki now has more steel plates in his body than the Terminator. The main difference: the Terminator was built that way. Juki worked at it himself, for years.

Even so, there is one place where even Juki occasionally gets a little nervous: the office. You would think that a man who runs construction sites, takes on responsibility and has voluntarily climbed onto a motocross bike would walk through any office door completely relaxed. Not Juki.

Juki sometimes enters the office with the expression of a schoolboy working out whether he has got himself into trouble. Usually there is no reason for it at all. Presumably the full inspection is already running in his head: Is everything done? Have I forgotten anything? Is there still something to be finished? And to that last question, with Juki, the answer is basically always the same: Yes.

Juki is good-natured, helpful, extremely conscientious, fast and someone you can rely on. He does not spend long talking about what ought to be done. While the others are still discussing who is going to take something on, you can usually already hear from somewhere on the site: "Juki's doing that." And if you go and look, he is probably already half finished.

And that is exactly why he is often the first one with the solution.

Michi is a lead fitter and installation manager – and probably one of the most relaxed people ever to have worn a hard hat.

Three problems at once? Schedule too tight? Five people all wanting something? Michi has a look first. Calmly. While the others are already on the phone, arguing and pre-emptively pinning the blame on somebody, Michi takes a moment to think. And then usually says one sentence that leaves you wondering why everybody was so worked up in the first place.

His calm rubs off on his crew, too. Michi does not need to raise his voice. He explains, organises and leads – calmly, cleanly and with a good deal of experience behind him.

And he has plenty of it: before he joined Mariacher in installation many years ago, he was already working in modular production. So he knows modules from the moment they come into being right through to the finished installation. Others see a container. Michi probably already sees three things that could be done better. But he will say so perfectly calmly.

Michi originally comes from Poland and has lived a large part of his life in Switzerland. He is conscientious, good-natured, helpful and, remarkably, one of our lead fitters who actually enjoys coming into the office. Voluntarily. We have asked several times.

Away from work Michi is a family man. At home his wife and his dog are waiting – and presumably two living creatures who have by now learned the same thing: you cannot stress Michi out.

Plenty of experience, real craftsmanship and a calm that is worth more on some construction sites than any tool. When everyone around him gets frantic, Michi stays calm. Somebody has to, after all.

Miroslav – to us simply Miro – runs a very special team. Internally we call it the "Vatican". Why? Because Miro's crew works rather like a state within a state. Its own people, its own machines, its own solutions. Which would presumably make Miro the Pope. Just with a cordless drill.

A trained cabinetmaker, drywall specialist and all-rounder, he and his team take on exactly the jobs where other people say: "We have never done that before." Special conversions, one-off constructions or even fitting and removing cash machines – the more unusual, the better.

The classic case is the Miro moment: you explain a problem to him. Miro says nothing. Thumb and index finger come together. He looks off somewhere and thinks. You slowly get nervous and ask: "Miro, is that even possible?" Short pause. "Yes, yes, yes. It'll work." And suddenly he has a solution.

On the side, it feels like he is building another two houses and buying machines that nobody knew we needed. Afterwards they are, of course, indispensable.

And because that apparently is still not enough, Miro also looks after his own ranch with around 20 horses. Work. Special builds. Building houses. Machines. 20 horses. To this day we do not know when Miro sleeps. And he definitely does not have that many days of holiday.

Miro is quiet, conscientious and not a man for big speeches. He thinks, then he does. So when nobody at Mariacher has any idea left how something is supposed to work, there is usually only one question remaining: "Have you asked Miro yet?" Thumb. Index finger. Short pause. "Yes, yes, yes. It'll work."

Andrej is one of those people for whom "roughly" is more of a theoretical unit of measurement. Container and modular construction, interior fit-out, installation, roof build-ups – he knows his trade and would rather look once too often than once too little.

That applies not only up on the roof, by the way, but right down at the bottom as well. When the question comes up at Mariacher: "Who is doing the foundation? That one really has to be perfect", the discussion is usually over quickly: Andrej. Because before the others have worked out where you might start, Andrej has probably measured twice already.

Internally, our almost two-metre-tall Andrej also goes by a slightly less intimidating name: "Papillon" – the butterfly. Why this giant of a man of all people was named after a small, delicate creature can no longer be fully reconstructed today. But the name has stuck.

And no: it has little to do with the way he works. Our Papillon does not flutter from task to task. He stays with it until the very last millimetre is right.

You can generally rely on Andrej. When a delivery is still being announced at half past nine in the evening and everybody else has long been at home on the sofa, Andrej will, if in doubt, still be standing on the construction site. And waiting. And waiting. Annoying only when the delivery never turns up at all. At least then one person believed in it right to the end.

Andrej is good-natured, helpful, obliging, extremely conscientious and almost always up for a quip. Strong professionally, a thoroughly decent bloke personally, and with a standard of quality that leaves "that'll do" very little chance.

Almost two metres tall. Accurate to the millimetre. And to us, still just: Papillon.
